HIGH-tech with a low-tech price tag will be on offer from Nissan soon when the Japanese-maker launches a significant new addition to its Micra range.

The company is expanding the range with a new N-TEC variant which comes loaded with a host of advanced technology features at a price premium of only £285 above the mid-range Acenta version.

Due to be shown in public for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the new Micra N-TEC's equipment list includes the latest-generation NissanConnect system which features a 5.8-inch colour touchscreen display, satellite navigation and smartphone integration.

It also comes with advanced features such as Google Send-To-Car technology, which allows an owner to plan a journey on their PC or tablet at home or in the office and then send the instructions to the car ahead of the journey.

And the gadget-count doesn't end there. The N-TEC's equipment list also includes rear parking sensors and parking slot measurement which work together to help drivers find the perfect parking space. Parking slot measurement lives up to its name by measuring parking spaces and alerting the driver via a dashboard display as to whether the car can be safely parked in the space or not. The system can even be adjusted to account for the driver's skill - amateur, normal or expert.

Other technologies fitted as standard to the new Micra N-TEC include automatic climate control, rain sensing windscreen wipers and automatic headlights.

Outwardly, the N-TEC can be distinguished by a number of premium styling features including 16-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps and rear privacy glass. Silver satin door mirrors and door handles complete the exterior design package. Inside, the new variant comes with a centre console finished in gloss black and distinctive blue stitching on the trim and leather-covered steering wheel.

Priced from £12,400 and available to order now, the Micra N-TEC is available with the same engine line-up as other models in the range - a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 80PS, or the supercharged, 98PS 1.2-litre DIG-S unit. The former is available with CVT automatic transmission as an option.
