IT'S party time with some added punch for Spanish car maker SEAT - courtesy of a red-hot new Ibiza model.

The VW-owned brand has lifted the wraps on the latest Cupra hot hatch version of the popular supermini, due to make its public debut at this month's Frankfurt Motor Show.

Facelifted versions of the Cupra hit UK streets early next year, complete with added power, extra style and more technology.

Thrust comes via a 1.8-litre TSI petrol engine now producing 192PS - a boost of 12PS - and capable of firing the Cupra from 0-62 in 6.7 seconds and on to a potential top speed of 146mph.

Yet the newcomer can still return an official 47 miles per gallon on the Combined cycle.

An upgrade in the Ibiza's interior sees the model reach a new level of quality, complemented by SEAT's Full Link, DriveApp and ConnectApps for optimum connectivity.

The car comes with 17-inch wheels and tuned suspension while a new standard feature is the Cupra Drive Profile, which allow its ride and handling characteristics to be adapted at the touch of a button to suit driver preferences.

And the XDS electronic differential lock dials out understeer and improves handling - especially under fast cornering.

Owners will also get the ESP electronic stability system, complete with hill start assist and multi-collision brake, plus tiredness detection.

They are all part of a safety package that has seen the Ibiza awarded a five-star Euro NCAP crash test rating.

Style-wise, LED daytime running lights trace the line of the headlamp while high-gloss black exterior mirrors contrast with the paintwork. There's also a matt-black diffuser.
