WANT to know what Porsches of the future might look like? The answer is not an awful lot different to the Porsches of today.
This is what the famed German sports car maker is calling the Porsche of tomorrow and while the shape may carry all the styling hallmarks of the brand, under the skin this is a totally different beast.
Unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show, the Mission E concept car is Porsche's vision of an electrically-powered sports car, but, as you might expect, it more than keeps to the company's core performance and dynamic values.
It will rocket from rest to 60mph in little more than three seconds and reach 120mph in less than 12.
Porsche aren't divulging the top speed but it will be pretty astonishing given the fact that it gets its power potential from twin electric motors developing a total power output in excess of 600hp
But perhaps even more significant is the fact that the driving range of the Mission E is over 500 kilometers and it can be recharged in little more time than it takes to fill a car's fuel tank today. At the quick charge station, it takes just over fifteen minutes to provide enough charge for around 80 per cent of the total range - a record time for electric vehicles according to Porsche.
The concept car is fitted with all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering and it's highly practical too with four individual seats and a host of hi-tech driver aids not least of which are a holographic display and virtual exterior mirrors with front wing mounted cameras projecting their images onto the lower corners of the windscreen.
