KOREAN brand SsangYong is stepping up its assault on the UK new car market with a further five new dealers joining the franchise.

The company says new appointments are currently running at around one a month and the new dealerships are Burrells Motor Group of Doncaster, Driven Car Sales in Stockton-on-Tees, Hammertons in Batley, West Yorkshire, Horsham Car Centre in West Sussex and Shukers of Telford.

SsangYong's UK chief Paul Williams said: "The arrival of the new Tivoli B-segment crossover, has certainly increased interest in the franchise from across the motor trade.

"Confidence in the SsangYong brand has been growing steadily as our sales performance indicates, but Tivoli has really fired-up enquiries from potential dealers.

"We're also now hearing from businesses representing premium brands looking for another string to their bow.

"Additionally, we're finding that existing SsangYong dealers are wanting to add the brand to other locations they either already have or want to open for us, Shukers in Shrewsbury and now Telford being a case in point. This is hugely encouraging."

SsangYong is actively looking for the right quality of dealers, with an entrepreneurial ‘can do' attitude, to represent the brand in a number of locations.

Current open points include 36 strategic centres including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Chester, Derby, Edinburgh, Greater Manchester, Hull, the Isle of Man, Liverpool, London, Mid & North Wales, Nottingham, Portsmouth and York.
