THE Honda Civic is going up in price and will cost from £16,470 come the New Year - an increase of 2.3 per cent.
The rise is in line with Honda's recent move to increase prices which has seen the cost of the new HR-V crossover rise by more than four per cent.
Honda says it is responding to market forces which has seen competitor vehicles increase by as much as three per cent in the past 12 months.
Prices for the larger CR-V SUV and all but the entry level Jazz supermini will also go up from January 4.
The CR-V will rise by 1.9 per cent taking the starting price up to £22,770 for a 2.0 S i-VTEC 2WD while prices for the Jazz SE and EX models will rise by 2.3 per cent on average, although the range will continue to be priced from £13,495.
The HR-Vnow costs from £18,495 for a 1.5 i-VTEC S petrol model.
Philip Crossman, managing director of Honda UK, said: "In the wider context we must ensure industry price competitiveness.
"To achieve this we have undertaken a comprehensive review of our product pricing over the last three years to understand where Honda sits in comparison to our main competitors and have determined that we need to raise prices accordingly."
Honda said that prices of the Jazz and the Civic have not been adjusted since 2014.
