SPARE wheels are making a comeback at Toyota which is to fit its latest Yaris hatchback models with spacesaver tyres as standard instead of a repair kit.
The change comes as Toyota spruces up the Yaris range and introduces a new high grade Design trim priced from £14,995.
Replacing the current Yaris Sport models, the Design cars are available with petrol, diesel and hybrid power systems and feature 16-inch alloys wheels, LED daytime running and rear lights, a reversing camera, cruise control, DAB radios and Toyota's Touch 2 multimedia system.
There is also a new paint finish which includes a black ‘wrap round' roof design as a £795 option.
Other revisions to the line up see the top specification Yaris Excel become available only as a 1.5-litre hybrid costing from £17,795.
As well as fitting all cars with a spare wheel there are also interior upgrades including new upholstery.
Prices across the range are rising by around £500 with the entry level Yaris Active now starting from £11,495.
