THE Vauxhall Astra raced around a test track by a host of stars including Olly Murs and Will Smith on TV's Top Gear has raised £17,800 for charity.
The two-year-old hatchback with less than 3,000 miles on the clock was sold on eBay in aid of automotive charity BEN.
Vauxhall donated the car after it was featured as the Reasonably Priced Car in the last series of the programme hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
It attracted almost 70 bids in the online auction and sold for more than twice its used car ‘book price' of around £8,000.
During its Top Gear stint the 1.6-litre Astra Tech Line was thrashed around the Top Gear track at Dunsfold in Surrey by scores of celebrities including Margot Robbie, Ron Howard and James Blunt but it was X-Factor presenter Olly Murs who topped the leader board with a time of 1:44.6.
