THE Fiat 500 range is expanding with the launch of two eco models including a diesel which is claimed to be capable of averaging more than 80 miles per gallon.
The new 1.3-litre diesel 500 is priced from £14,165 and is being joined a revised 1.2-litre petrol model which has been reworked to push fuel efficiency up to 65.7mpg.
Emissions are 89g/km for the diesel and 99g/km for the 1.2 which costs from £11,865.
Both are fitted with stop/start systems and come with low rolling resistance tyres which in the case of the petrol 500 has reduced CO2 output from 110g/km taking its company car tax liability down from 17 to 14 per cent.
Performance figures for the 500 1.2 Eco, which develops 69bhp, are 0 to 60 in 12.9 seconds with a top speed of 99mph while the diesel has 95bhp giving it a 0 to 60 time of 10.7 seconds and a claimed maximum of 112mph.
The new engines are also being fitted in the convertible versions of the 500 which are priced from £14,515 for the petrol and £16,815 for the diesel.
