FORD says more than a 1,000 customers have now received their right-hand-drive Mustang muscle machine as total sales for the latest model in Britain accelerate past 3,500.

So far, 80 per cent of British customers have specified the 416 bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine. The Mustang's six-speed manual transmission is also the one that UK customers have opted for with the fastback body style over the convertible

Race Red is the most-popular exterior colour among UK buyers, specified on 20 per cent of Mustang orders. Magnetic Silver is second in line with 17 per cent and Shadow Black is third with 15 per cent. Triple Yellow (nine per cent) and Ruby Red (seven per cent) complete the top five.

The Mustang colour choice has been updated from March to include a new White Platinum finish as well as two shades of blue called Grabber and Lightning. Earlier colours such as Competition Orange, Deep Impact Blue and Guard Grey are no longer available to order.

The iconic Mustang is available to order in the UK from £30,995 for the 2,3-litre EcoBoost model and £34,995 for the V8 and now features an eight-inch colour touchscreen with nine-speaker DAB radio, USB and Bluetooth connectivity as standard.
