WITH the motoring world's eyes focused on Paris where the French capital's motor show opens next week, Jeep has taken the odd decision to reveal its latest model on the other side of the world.

The company says that its decision to introduce the all-new Jeep Compass in Brazil is in celebration of the start of production at a new Jeep assembly plant there.

Boldly, Jeep claims that the new Compass will be the most capable compact SUV ever but British and European drivers will have to wait around a year to check that out - it's not due to go on sale here until the second half of 2017.

The company says that the Compass will be a "truly global" car which will be produced with no fewer than 17 powertrain options for consumers in more than 100 countries around the world.

It will be officially launched at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November ahead of its North American introduction in the first quarter of next year.
