High tech kit for

new Peugeot 308

PEUGEOT has released the first details of its new 308 range of hatchbacks and estate cars which are due for release later in the year.

The third generation models will feature new engines and high-tech interior equipment including the sophisticated i-Cockpit instrument panel first seen on the 3008 SUV.

A new 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 130bhp will make its debut in the latest 308 and with stop/start it already complies with the latest emissions regulations due to come in to force in 2018.

Improvements have also been made to the PureTech three cylinder petrol engines used in the line up which have a new six-speed manual gearbox.

An eight speed auto transmission will be available on certain models.

Peugeot is describing the new 308 as the most high-tech model it has produced so far and as well as the i-Cockpit display it also features MirrorLink connectivity for smartphones and a 3D sat nav system which uses TomTom live traffic information.

Styling features include a new grille design with LED daytime running lights on all models while driving aids include automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.

As before, the 308 line up will comprise of hatch and SW estate models as well as performance oriented GTi variants.

A new feature is a glass roof which will be standard on all high grade versions inlcuding GT and GT Line trim levels.

Prices for the new 308 range, which will be on the road in September, are to be announced later.
