Murano gets mean

with diesel

A DIESEL version of Nissan's high specification Murano 4x4 is due to be on sale in the autumn.

Not only will the newcomer offer greater economy than the existing V6 petrol model it will also be easier to park.

Nissan has decided to back-up the existing full colour reversing display with an additional camera mounted in the nearside door mirror to give a side view of the car when manoeuvring.

The system is designed to eliminate blind spots.

Although pricing and fuel economy are not yet available the new Murano will use a 2.5-litre four cylinder diesel developing 190 horsepower.

As with the petrol model it will be mated to a six-speed auto transmission and will have adaptive four-wheel-drive.

The Murano is available only in one trim which includes leather upholstery, climate control, Bluetooth phone connection and a Bose sound system. It also features Nissan's anti-scratch paint.

Petrol models, which were launched two years ago, are priced from £32,850 and average around 26mpg with CO2 emissions of 262g/km.

Nissan says the diesel will be on sale in September.
