ONE of the sportiest looking crossover 4x4's on the market has just become infinitely more desirable.

The Infiniti FX will be available in July with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine which boasts 235bhp and stump-pulling amounts of torque for excellent performance.

But of course, it also comes with lower emissions and hugely improved economy over the petrol models in the range.

Infiniti claims the top Premium model comes with every conceivable ‘extra' as standard, including the company's collision and lane departure warning systems.

The same intelligent all-wheel drive system used in other FX models enhances the appeal of the new V6, and fuel consumption on the combined cycle is up to 31.4mpg while CO2 emissions drop to 238g/km.

Drive is through the standard seven-speed adaptive shift control automatic gearbox and the company claims that although the 8.3 seconds to 60 time is good, the really impressive performance comes through the gears for effortless overtaking.

The FX30d in S spec includes 21-inch alloys, sports seats, sports suspension and active rear wheel steering - the first time this handling technology has been available in the FX on anything below the V8 FX50 flagship.

Other equipment should be superb and the existing models are said to have excellent comfort and handling.
