IF Doctor Who producers ever need a new agent for their props then Renault could fit the bill perfectly - for the new Kangoo boasts as much space as any Tardis could¦ although time travel may be a big ask!

From the outside it looks like many other smaller multi-purpose vehicles, but as soon as you take you seat behind the steering wheel you cannot fail to be impressed by the incredibly bright and airy cabin with light flooding in from all directions.

That's because the Kangoo has been designed to offer excellent comfort levels to all passengers and each and every one of them is treated to an abundance of head and legroom to enjoy plus an array of storage compartments to keep their goodies in.

In fact, it seems everywhere you turn inside the Kangoo is another storage facility, including overhead compartments and useful pockets and there are also easily adaptable roof bars too for carrying awkward-shaped items.

I have to admit one feature really bugged me though and that was the cup/can holder - when the handbrake was disengaged and lowered the only way to get a cup in or out of the hole was to tilt it which seems a bit silly.

But that tiny gripe aside, what a vehicle. There are creature comforts everywhere including sat nav, cruise control, electric windows - £155 extra in the rear sliding doors, fold down tables and plenty more.

I did think the drive would prove a little sluggish because the Kangoo is not exactly the most streamlined of vehicles and has been designed for practicality rather than speed, but in fairness, it proved me wrong.

In and around town it buzzed through the busy city centre traffic and then out on the more open road it certainly held its own with the 1.5-litre engine providing ample power. Road-holding on tighter bends was also excellent for such a high-sided vehicle.

Another factor that really impressed me was the fuel economy. Despite travelling miles and miles, the gauge barely moved and at one time I was even flicking the glass to make sure it was working! It was and the 51.1mpg combined fuel economy is certainly another plus factor for the Kangoo.

As one would expect, Renault has packed many safety features into the vehicle including anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution, numerous airbags and lots more besides.
