RECESSION - what recession?
With sales up 20 per cent in the first six months of this year Porsches are at a premium right now so don't expect to go down to your local dealer and negotiate a whopping discount.
Porsche is arguably the world's best sporting brand and the range has expanded rapidly in the last few years with the massive Cayenne off-roader and luxurious Panamera four door joining the legendary 911 and smaller Boxster sports car ranges.
The latest, revamped versions of the Cayenne have just arrived in the UK and, although the new-look bodywork has been stretched, the latest models are lighter, more agile, more powerful and more economical than before.
COemissions are down too and the range now features a technically sophisticated petrol electric version in the shape of the Cayenne S Hybrid which, with emissions of 193g/km, is the cleanest Porsche throughout the Company's entire portfolio.
Prices of the new Cayenne range start at £41,404 and rise to £81,589.
The latest Cayenne is joined in the showrooms this summer by two new versions of the sleek Panamera Gran Turismo four door sports saloon.
Both the Panamera and Panamera 4 models are powered by a brand-new Porsche-designed 3.6-litre V6 engine featuring Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) developing maximum output of 300bhp and peak torque of 400Nm.
Equipped with a double-clutch gearbox - which includes Auto Start/Stop - the Panamera delivers 30.4mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions are an impressive 218g/km. The Panamera 4 averages 29.4mpg and 225g/km respectively
The Panamera, priced at £61,461, transmits its power to the road via the rear wheels, while the Panamera 4 comes as standard with active all-wheel drive and costs £66,929.
