Volkswagen tees up a

new Caddy

Volkswagen Caddy, action

VOLKSWAGEN'S new Caddy van will cost from £12,100 when deliveries start in November.

That entry point price is for the 1.6-litre 75PS TDI model and excludes VAT, while the Caddy Maxi starts at £14,050 for the entry-level model equipped with a 1.6-litre 102PS TDI diesel.

The German company says that the vans will be the most economical and refined yet, thanks to fresh styling, upgraded materials plus better convenience and safety options as well as new engines.

Standard spec includes anti-lock brakes, ESP, traction control, automatic hazard lights activation under emergency braking, driver's airbag, speed sensitive power steering, remote central locking and a CD stereo with AUX-in socket.

Adopting the new Volkswagen family look with a mix of horizontal lines that already features on the Transporter, the new Caddy range represents better value for money over the outgoing models.

Five versions are available from launch comprising the new Caddy C20 and C20+ (enhanced payload) vans, the Caddy Maxi van, the Caddy Maxi window van and the Caddy Maxi MPV - formerly known as the Life.

A new range of common rail TDI engines sees a pair of 1.6-litre TDI units developing 75 or 102PS joined by a 2.0-litre TDI engine offered in 110 and 140PS guises.

There will also be two Caddy BlueMotion technology models using a stop/start system and automatic battery regeneration during braking as well as featuring low rolling resistance tyres plus hill hold assist and cruise control as standard.

The 102 PS model has the lowest CO figure of the range at 134g/km, with a combined cycle figure of 55.4mpg, to give a potential range of up to 735 miles.

And for the first time the Caddy can be specified with the latest generation seven-speed DSG gearbox as well as 4MOTION four-wheel drive on selected models.

Ordering for the new vehicles will begin on September 27 with first customer deliveries in November.
