PRICE cuts of up to £2,300 are being made by Renault following the French car maker's decision to streamline its model line up.

From January 4 Renault is cutting its core range from 227 to 159 models and reducing trim choices to three - Expression, Dynamique TomTom and GT Line TomTom.

The new prices, which include January's increase in VAT to 20 per cent, see the Laguna Coupe V6 dCi 235 Auto £2,300 cheaper than it was in October at £30,800.

The Clio Expression 1.2 16V 75 falls by £790 to £10,250 while the Mégane Coupé Dynamique TomTom 1.4 Tce 130 is £1,060 cheaper at £17,995.

The flagship of the Renault range, the Grand Espace, will cost from £26,550 for the Dynamique TomTom 2.0 dCi 150 - a reduction of £2,050 while the smaller Scenic people mover is £170 cheaper at entry-level.

As well as the new price structure Renault has also announced it is adding extra kit to some models at no extra cost such as fitting Carminat TomTom satellite navigation as standard.
