Kangoo knows way

around

RENAULT'S habit of giving some of its cars standard built-in TomTom sat nav seems like a good deal on face value.

There are no similarly equipped models without the navigation to gauge the cost, but adding the necessary equipment to the lower spec Expression brings the price up to about the same level, so they are not giving anything away.

That said, the Kangoo Dynamique I've just driven had the big built-in screen and it's a vast improvement over the small ones you get with aftermarket sat navs, if much more difficult to set up and use. When will companies learn that a touch screen is the only way to go!!!

Renault's system does come with beep warnings for speed cameras - and that could easily save you the extra cost in just a few miles of strange road!

The Kangoo with 86bhp 1.5 diesel power has fair performance, excellent economy and a very comfortable ride. It takes the corners safely and is very easy to park thanks to the vertical rear end.

The thing is a Tardis inside, with more than enough headroom for a seven footer, decent rear legroom, storage all over the place and a massive boot.

This spec brings aircon - an extra on lower order cars - along with the sat-nav, Bluetooth, cruise control, remote locking and electric windows, but the tall hatch needs lots of space behind to open!
