FOUR-wheel-drive is about to enter a new dimension with Ferrari announcing it has developed one capable of 209mph.
The Ferrari FF - it stands for four seats and four-wheel-drive - will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Powered by a 6.2-litre V12 engine, the FF has a 0 to 60 time of 3.7 seconds.
It has been designed by Pininfarina and is the first time Ferrari has produced an all-wheel-drive model.
Ferrari says its 4WD set up is 50 per cent lighter than conventional systems giving the car a 47/53 weight distribution. It is also fitted with a magnetic damping system.
As a grand tourer, the FF can seat four and for a Ferrari has exceptional luggage capacity of 450 litres which can be stretched to a maximum of 800 - about the same as an average family hatchback.
With an electronic drive and suspension system, Ferrari says the FF can perform on a variety of road conditions, including snow.
Average fuel consumption is said to be just shy of 18mpg with CO2 emissions rated at 360g/km.
Prices have still to be announced.
