Perodua stays cheap

and cheerful

Perodua Myvi SE, side

IF you are in the market for a new Perodua MYVI now is the time to buy.

At least it is if you are going for anything other than the base model SXI manual as Perodua is holding the VAT increase for every other spec level.

The MYVI is now the only car that Perodua sells in the UK as the popular Perodua Kenari was withdrawn last year.

But while the choice of models might have been reduced to one, there are five different versions of the MYVI now available.

And for the time being there is a £1,000 cashback offer available on all of them, making the entry level SXI manual just £6,999 on-the-road, one of the cheapest cars available in the UK today.

And despite its budget price you still get a lot of features on the car, including air conditioning, electric windows and door mirrors as well as power steering.

As well as the SXI there is now the Sport, the SE, the Sport+ and the Lux.

The Myvi Sport boasts a stylish body kit consisting of front, side and rear skirts including imitation quad exhausts.

Colour matched side mouldings with chrome ‘Myvi' motifs and chrome door handles add classy finishing touches to the vehicle and alloy wheels complete the sporty image.

Inside, carbon fibre finishes are fitted to the instrument panel and door panel switch surround continuing the sporty look throughout the car's interior.

Both the Sport+ and the Lux were only introduced in January and offer extra features.

The Sport+, for example (£8.899, with the £1,000 cashback), has the same spec as the Sport plus a sport style leather/alcantara interior.

Opt for the Lux (from £7,399) and you get extras like remote central locking, chrome door handles, chrome tailgate trim and sill guards.

The MYVI is Perodua's trendy little hatchback and is powered by a 1.3-litre, four cylinder engine.

Buyers have a choice of ordering the car as either a manual or an automatic and they have a top speed of 106 miles per hour and 102mph respectively.

Running costs are low too with the SXi averaging 48 miles per gallon.

The cars have a full three year, 36,000-mile warranty.

The MYVI was only introduced into the UK in 2007 but Perodua has been selling cars in the UK for more than 10 years.
