Power boost for Alfa

Alfa 159 2.0 JTDm

A NEW two-litre diesel engine plus fresh interior trim and more equipment are features of the upgraded 159 range from Alfa Romeo.

The 2.0 JTDm 136bhp engine provides lively performance along with improved fuel consumption and low CO emissions - 134g/km for the Saloon and 137g/km for the Sportwagon.

These figures make the Alfa 159 a more competitive alternative to company car and fleet buyers basing their choice on CO emissions.

In addition, the Alfa now offers new sports cloth upholstery and leather in black or natural hide, as well as chrome-plated or black aluminium inserts on the dashboard and centre console.

The revised range comprises three trim grades with entry level Turismo now complemented by Lusso, which is designed for comfort, and TI aimed at a more sporty feel.

Turismo features the likes of six airbags, electric front and rear windows, dual zone auto climate control, cruise control, front fog lights, eight-speaker sound,  Blue&Me hands-free system, black leather steering with remote controls and 16-inch alloys.

The Lusso version adds leather upholstery, visibility pack, white lit sports dials, dark chrome painted dashboard and door trim inserts, rear parking sensors, stainless steel kick plates and 17-inch alloys.

TI versions are distinguished by 19-inch alloys, side skirts, lowered sports suspension and red painted brake callipers, while the inside includes wraparound seats trimmed in black leather and Alcantara, sports pedal unit in aluminium and kick plates with the TI logo. Carbon fibre inserts on the central console and steering wheel can be ordered as options.

In addition to the 2.0 JTDm 136bhp engine, the range also boasts a 1,750cc 200bhp turbo petrol and a 2.0 JTDm 170bhp diesel unit.

And with safety in mind, the Alfa 159 has as standard a vehicle dynamic stability control system including an anti-slip function, hill start assistance and emergency braking assistance.

The new 2.0 JTDm 136bhp marks the entry point to the 2011 Alfa 159 range at £22,500 while petrol models start at £23,515 for the 1750 TBi 200bhp Turismo model.
