HYUNDAI'S replacement for the Coupe should be in the showrooms in September and it's a cracker.
Called the Veloster the company claims it is part coupe and part crossover, but early photos show much more coupe to me.
Oddly, it follows the daft MINI Clubman in having two doors on one side and one on the other.
Hyundai is aiming at the likes of the VW Scirocco and is only looking for fairly small sales.
The idea is to create a stir and show what its designers can really do when they are given a clean sheet.
The only engine known at the moment is a 1.6 petrol with about 140bhp, but I would expect larger units also to be included in the range.
The company is not selling it as an out and out sportscar but more of a comfortable long distance cruiser with added practicality.
Inside, expect a high level of kit for your £18,000, but those that have seen a prototype say rear headroom is at a premium.
