A fiery F Sport version of the new Lexus GS is set to be unveiled in Las Vegas next month.

The next generation GS is the car Lexus believes will herald a new chapter in the company's history - and the F Sport will be the line-up's performance flagship.

It hits the streets in 2012 with some serious attitude thanks to a new front bumper design with larger side grilles, a dedicated mesh design for the upper and lower grilles plus a grey metallic finish to the bumper diffuser.

And on the GS 450h F Sport there is an additional chrome moulding on the bumper's lower section, adding extra dash to the car's road presence.

The F Sport package also includes a rear spoiler and - exclusive to the grade - dark metallic finish 19-inch alloy wheels which have a staggered width to improve the car's traction.

Inside, matching door and seat upholstery will be available in a new deep red Garnet shade exclusive to the F Sport, while other features include aluminium trims, 16-way adjustable front seats, a black headliner and perforated leather steering wheel.

To top off the sporty appeal, the scuff plates bear the F Sport logo in black and the F Sport badge is also featured on the steering wheel.

As for dynamics, this GS has retuned front and rear suspension to maximise body control and steering response - making the Lexus more agile and engaging to drive.

And a drive mode select function lets the driver choose between Eco, Normal, Sport S and Sport S+ driving modes.

The GS 450h F Sport is also equipped with the Lexus Dynamic Handling system, making it the world's first hybrid vehicle to feature an integrated four-wheel steering system
