SOMETIMES when I heard of a new car being launched I have great hopes but it doesn't live up to expectations.

Even all-conquering Audi has let me down on small things in the past - but not this time.

The new A6 is a magnificent all-rounder that should appeal to everyone in the £30,000 league for their next car.

It really does just about have the lot in three-litre diesel S-line form. There is more than enough performance from any speed and the V6 sounds sweet too.

I drove the quattro four wheel drive with eight-speed automatic gearbox, giving the extra safety and security of superb traction in all weathers.

For those who need to stay mobile when things get slippery, but don't want a cumbersome 4x4, it's the answer.

The sumptuous interior has superb seats and the ride is brilliant, soaking up everything I could throw at it in more than 300 miles.

The A6 is agile, supremely quiet, very quick and economical into the bargain.

S line trim brings just about everything you can think of including parking sensors, sat nav, a marvellous stereo system, leather, electric seats and much much more.

There's space for five, or four in complete and utter comfort and the boot is wide and deep enough to take all their belongings.
