I'M sure you would probably have thought that I'd be more than happy with any great looking car that gave me road rippling performance.
But sadly, all is not perfect in the land of the Citroen DS4. It has a marvellous looking and svelte coupe shape and still has five doors.
In top 200 DSport form it also comes with a smooth and very powerful 197bhp turbo 1.6, which manages much lower emissions than petrol alternatives, making lower personal tax for business users.
Performance is excellent, with huge acceleration from almost any speed, and the engine sounds brilliant. Road-holding and handling are also top-notch.
But it is let down by some torque steer under heavy acceleration, rather unresponsive steering, and a very unsettled and bouncy ride.
The suspension settings need to be changed to give more comfort. The company has made the springs too hard even for such a sporting model.
Inside, this top model takes much from the good looking interior of the C4. It gets leather, cruise, climate, MP3 connection, alloys, six airbags and Bluetooth as standard.
The boot is not all that big and the narrow rear door apertures make entry and exit difficult for adults.
