Porsche spices up

Cayenne range

Porsche Cayenne GTS

PORSCHE has lifted the wraps on a new addition to its Cayenne SUV line-up in the shape of a powerful GTS model.

The car, which will cost from £67,147 when it hits the streets in July, slots between the S and Turbo in the Cayenne range but has, promises Porsche, a character of its own.

That includes an uprated 4.8-litre V8 engine producing 420bhp and based on the Cayenne S power unit, while transmission is via an eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox with integrated auto start/stop function.

And because both the engine and gearbox have been fine-tuned, the GTS is capable of sprinting from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds and reaching 100mph in 13.3 seconds. Top speed is 162mph and Combined fuel consumption 26.4mpg.

To help realise the GTS model's dynamic potential, its chassis settings have been modified with the suspension more tautly tuned and equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard. The body has also been lowered.

Design features reveal a front-end styling inspired by the Cayenne Turbo plus high-gloss black window surrounds and trims, prominent side skirts, wider wheel arches and a roof spoiler.

Inside, the cabin is finished in leather and Alcantara, the front sports seats have eight-way adjustment, there's a SportDesign steering wheel with paddle-shift, a sports exhaust system and Bi-Xenon headlights.

The Cayenne GTS also comes with a Porsche Vehicle Tracking System and customers also get a complimentary course at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone.
