THERE are some supercars I would find it very hard to live with because they simply demand too much attention behind the wheel.
But the latest saloon version of Subaru's WRX STi is different.
It is one of those cars with uncanny, seemingly impossible abilities. It will pull from tickover in sxth gear of six without a murmur.
But if you plant your right foot with the engine anywhere above 2,000 revs, it heads for the horizon like a racehorse on speed.
The flat four boxer engine still makes the same distinctive sound despite four massive and unnecessary exhausts coming out of the back.
And the performance it brings is electrifying in every way.
Although the ride is lumpy in town, it smoothes out as speed rises, even over rougher surfaces.
The handling and road holding are sublime, with ridiculously quick cornering speeds on dry roads.
It has a leather covered steering wheel, and leather and suede Recaro rally seats with high sides and a deep back that can be uncomfortable if you're broader of beam like me.
The plain black interior might seem sparse, but it leaves the driver free to enjoy the performance - and that's what this car is all about.
