BRITISH brand MG is targeting fleet buyers and company car drivers with recently-launched diesel versions of its MG6 family hatchback.

The company says class-leading insurance group ratings, extremely low benefit-in-kind rates plus low servicing and repair costs are among the appealing factors of the MG6 DTi-TECH diesel model.

So much so that MG expects to sell 65 per cent of this model in the fleet and business sector of the market.

In fact MG estimates that over three years the new MG6 GT and MG6 Magnette DTi-TECH diesels will be among the most economic for many company car drivers to run.

Prices before first registration fee or road tax for the MG6 DTi-TECH work out at £16,820 for the GT in S trim, £18,020 in SE trim and £20,020 for TSE trim and the Magnette model.

And extensive standard specification gives the MG another advantage in the business sector as cars with an extensive options list add to the overall taxable value of the vehicle - but with the MG6 there is no options list.

S model kit includes the likes of ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Emergency Brake Assist, brake pad wear sensor, Stability Control System, Hill Hold, air-con, electric windows, sound system with MP3 and aux-in, body coloured mirrors, fog lamps and a rear spoiler.

SE adds considerably more and, in top spec TSE, leather-clad luxury, Bluetooth, colour sat-nav and 18-inch alloy wheels are included.

Both GT and Magnette models have Stop-Start technology and are powered by a 150PS 1.9-litre turbocharged diesel engine giving acceleration of 0-62mph in 8.9 seconds, a maximum speed of 120mph, Combined fuel economy of 53.5mpg and 139gkm of CO2.

Insurance group ratings for the diesels are 14E for S and SE and 15E for TSE and Magnette.
