Big savings from VW

Volkswagen Touareg R-Line

IF YOU'VE got a spare £40,000-plus to spend on a new luxury SUV, then you might want to bite Volkswagen's hands off for a new version of the upmarket Touareg SUV which offers buyers a £3,000-plus saving.

Called the Touareg R-Line, it boasts an even more sumptuous spec than the already well-equipped Touareg Altitude on which it is based and comes with special R-Line styling cues. VW reckons the extra kit is worth over £4,000, yet is only asking for a premium of £750.

The Touareg R-Line sits on bespoke 20-inch alloy wheels with 275/45 R20 tyres and has special front and rear bumpers and side skirts with R-Line badges on the front wings. Bi-xenon headlights with dynamic curve lighting and LED daytime running lights are standard and are complemented by LED rear lights and number-plate lights.

Inside there are bespoke R-Line sill plates, a full-length panoramic electric, sliding glass sunroof plus keyless entry and start and an electrically powered tailgate.

The Touareg R-Line is available with an eight-speed automatic gearbox paired to a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with either 204 PS, for £44,025, or 245 PS, for £45,645.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen has taken the axe to prices of its Passat-based CC models with at least £470 cut from the sticker price of every model in the range.

Biggest saving is on the best-selling CC GT 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS version with prices down by a total of £1,320, thanks to the removal of ACC Adaptive Chassis Control, which now becomes an £850 option.
