ORIGINALLY known as the Passat CC, Volkswagen's sleek and streamlined four-door coupe model has grown so popular that it has been able to ditch its dependence on the Passat label and is now known simply as the CC.

But that's all that is simple about this beautifully crafted car.

It looks amazing from every angle, has an array of techno treats and handles exceptionally well whilst offering outstanding comfort levels along the way.

The CC features VW's latest design DNA which includes a new radiator grille with very strong horizontal lines and the large VW emblem sitting proudly in the centre.

There are also redesigned bumpers and new LED tail lights. Other eye-catching features include 18-inch alloys, bi-xenon headlights with automatic range adjustment, electrically adjustable and heated body-coloured door mirrors with integrated indicators, daytime running lights, privacy glass, twin tailpipes and plenty more besides.

The interior is somewhat simplistic in its layout but there is an abundance of technology to be discovered such as smart nappa leather seats that can be heated - the driver also has a massage function, dual-zone climate control, a stop/start function, a sat nav infotainment system with 6.5-inch colour touchscreen and 10 speakers, cruise control with automatic distance control and lots more.

Few cars can offer the interior space that the CC can with ample room for back seat passengers to stretch out.

The boot is massive plus the option of 60:40 split-folding rear seats means the capacity can be increased even further if required.

There is a real stylish elegance to the CC and the performance also matches up.

In and around town, the car copes effortlessly as it weaves through the busy traffic, although parking such a long vehicle does mean a lengthy space is essential.

Then out on the faster lanes and motorways the 2.0-litre diesel-powered engine delivers plenty of oomph as the CC moves swiftly through the six-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

Handling is excellent and road surface and engine noise minimal.

The all-round visibility is good even though the rear window is quite small and steeply angled.

The car's performance on longer journeys is one of the CC's big selling points and it obviously works as the fleet market accounts for approximately 80 per cent of sales.

VW has packed a vast range of safety specifications into the car, including anti-lock brakes with brake assist system and electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stabilisation programme, traction control, numerous airbags and much more.

All in all the VW CC is an excellent car for business drivers who demand exceptional comfort while clocking up the motorway miles, but it certainly doubles up as a perfect family vehicle.
