Metal magic for

music fans

Volkswagen Rock up!

VOLKSWAGEN is pumping up the volume for music fans this summer with a pair of city car special editions.

The cars are named the Groove up! and Rock up! and are based on the top-spec High up! model, each with its own twist.

Groove up! comes with an ear-popping Fender sound system, complete with six speakers, a subwoofer and a 300-Watt amplifier.

Also standard is the Maps & More personal infotainment device, which along with touchscreen sat-nav provides Bluetooth phone connectivity and music streaming, making it a cinch to synch with your tunes.

Available as either a three-door or five-door model, the Groove up! also comes with heated front seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, gear lever and handbrake with orange stitching, bespoke black seats with orange edging, dark-tinted glass, 16-inch alloys and black gloss door mirror caps.

The Rock up! is only available as a three-door model and doesn't get the Fender sound system.

What it does have though is an anthracite stripe running the length of the bonnet, roof and tailgate and a full body kit, consisting of gloss black front spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler, plus 16-inch alloys.

The door mirror caps are also gloss black, apart from on vehicles ordered with Deep Black Pearl paintwork, in which case they are chrome.

Inside, the Rock up! offers a choice of black or grey seats plus stuff like air-con, remote central locking, heated front seats, the Maps & More info set-up and a six-speaker audio system.

Optional gear includes the City Emergency Braking system, a sensor pack that includes rear parking sensors, cruise control and a multifunction computer, and for the five-door Groove up!, a forward-folding front passenger seat to accommodate long loads.

Both models come with a 1.0-litre 75PS petrol engine, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and can return a combined fuel figure of 60.1mpg while producing CO2 emissions of 108g/km.

It means they both qualify for Vehicle Excise Duty band B, which is free for the first year, and £20 after that.

The order book has opened, with deliveries due in July, and prices are £11,640 for the Groove up! three-door with an extra £375 for five doors, while the Rock up! costs £12,980.
