THE only problems with the Infiniti G37 are that there is no diesel option and running costs are high.

Power in all models comes from the same 3.7 V6 engine with 315bhp - a slightly detuned version of the engine that powers the Nissan 370Z sportscar. So we know that performance is excellent.

The engine is smooth and almost inaudible at low speeds, only giving voice with a delicious muted growl as the revs rise.

The G37 is about the same size as the BMW 3-Series and it is good to drive, very quick and with a choice of rear or four wheel drive.

Although the standard gearbox is a manual, most second-hand models will come with the seven-speed automatic option that suits the car's relaxed ethos to a tee.

Like all the other Infiniti models, it comes laden with equipment including climate, cruise, leather upholstery, stability control and six airbags.

It is beautifully comfortable to drive or to ride in, the handling is almost up to the 3-Series and if you can stand the 20-25mpg economy, it is very reasonable second-hand.
