Porsche not for

posing

PLEASE don't buy a Porsche Boxster just to pose in or for trips to the shops, that would be a complete waste of a marvelous driver's car.

They are cars made to be driven - to be enjoyed not just used. They are so good I have to wonder why anyone bothers buying the iconic 911.

A new model was launched recently but the old ones still look very good and drive just as well.

From 2004, when the range was updated, basic models had 240bhp, the 3.2-litre S had 252bhp and other models have been added with power as high as 305bhp.

Older models from before 2004 are much more affordable - down to under £6,000 - and many will have Porsche service history, meaning that even with 100,000 miles or more on the clock, they still have loads of life left.

You get marvellous performance, unstickable road-holding, pin-sharp handling and real comfort, all in one of the prettiest two seaters around.

Equipment leaves nothing lacking in standard trim so go on, grab yourself some fun with a capital F, but get it checked by someone who knows to make sure it's good and make sure you can afford the insurance.

The electric hood takes just a few seconds and is snug in the worst of weather, the seats are all-but perfect for comfort and handling and the brakes are awesome.
