AN AUDI RS 6 Avant with a personalised interior autographed by actress Gwyneth Paltrow has gone under the hammer for £120,000 at the annual Elton John White Tie & Tiara Ball.

The sale was held at the home of the singer and every penny of the £3 million raised at the auction will go to support the work of the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Guests were invited to bid for the various lots, which included the one-off  RS 6 Avant complete with a Lunar Silver leather interior signed by Paltrow.

Currently the most potent Audi available, the RS 6 Avant produces a whopping 560PS and can hit 62mph from standstill in just 3.9 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 155mph, which can be raised upon request to 189mph.

Paltrow, who drives an Audi both in character as Pepper Potts in the Iron Man action series and in real life on the roads of London and Los Angeles, put her stamp on the car at the model's London launch. It was the first RS 6 Avant to arrive in the UK ahead of general deliveries in August.

Stars at the White Tie & Tiara Ball included Coldplay, Uma Thurman, Elizabeth Hurley and David Walliams, and Sir Elton John said: "I would like to extend my thanks to Audi for supporting the White Tie & Tiara Ball for the last 11 years, and for its generosity to the evening's fundraising."
