THE facelifted version of Skoda's popular crossover model the Yeti will cost from £16,600 when it hits the streets in January.

That represents a £750 premium over the existing range, though the newcomer boasts extra kit and cleaner engines.

And for the first time there will be two variants of the car - the standard Yeti and a more rugged Yeti Outdoor model.

As part of the refresh package four engines now feature lower CO2 emissions while there's new technology in the form of a rear-view parking camera, bi-xenon lights with LED daytime running lights and KESSY keyless entry, start and exit system.

Four new metallic colours have also been added to the line-up - Moon White, Jungle Green, Metal Grey and Magnetic Brown.

The Yeti is aimed at buyers who want the high driving position and visibility of an SUV, but don't require off-road capability.

Available in front-wheel-drive form only, it comes in three trim grades - S, SE and Elegance - and offers a trio of engines including a 1.6 TDI CR 105PS DPF GreenLine II unit that emits only 119g/km of CO2.

The Outdoor, meanwhile, has chunkier bumpers with black trim along the sides and lower elements to help cope with rough surfaces.

It brings the option of a new fifth-generation Haldex Clutch four-wheel-drive system and is available in S, SE, Elegance and L&K spec grades plus two petrol engines and four diesels.

Power outputs are from 105PS to 170PS and transmission options include manual and DSG automatic gearboxes.

Prices range from £16,600 for the Yeti S 1.2 TSI 105PS, rising to £27,050 for the flagship Yeti Outdoor L&K 2.0 TDI 140PS 4x4 DSG.
