LEXUS has taken a step up from luxury by adding a super sumptuous Advance model to its RX450h line-up.

Advance takes the established Luxury grade features and adds an extra styling dimension to the full hybrid SUV's appearance.

There's a new, deep front bumper plus LED headlight units with the prestige brand's I-AFS auto-adaptive system, which moves in line with the steering to give better illumination at junctions and through bends.

The specification also includes new seven-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels and the choice of either a fixed panoramic roof or an electric sunroof.

Otherwise the new model delivers the same performance as before along with standard kit like Smart Entry and Start, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, heated eight-way adjustable front seats, auto-dimming and folding door mirrors, auto windscreen wipers and rear privacy glass.

On-board connectivity and infotainment come via the Lexus Premium Navigation system with 12-speaker audio pack, DVD player and DAB tuner.

And the system also provides a rear-view camera and Bluetooth for hands-free calls and audio streaming.

The RX 450h's full hybrid powertrain combines a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine and powerful electric motor, producing a maximum 295bhp for 0-62mph acceleration in less than eight seconds.

Fuel economy is a combined 44.8mpg and CO2 emissions are 145g/km.

With winter approaching, a Protection Pack can be specified for the Advance, adding a boot liner, bumper protection plate, cargo net and rubber floor mats.

The RX 450h Advance costs £48,495, the Protection Pack adding an extra £445, and there's a choice of six exterior colours.
