IF somehow you manage to miss the stunning Audi RS 5 as it passes by, one thing is guaranteed - you will certainly hear it.

This car can be as quiet or loud as you want it to be thanks to the sports exhaust that will fizz, crackle and pop when the car is being driven in dynamic mode.

The RS 5 looks stunning from any approach thanks to its sleek streamlining, 20-inch alloys, smart light clusters and sporty ready-for-action stance.

The interior oozes Audi craftsmanship throughout with premium materials incorporated to create a classy environment for all occupants.

The Nappa leather sports seats can be heated with memory settings and to offer a hint at the driving performance you can expect there are subtle reminders scattered throughout the cabin.

The RS emblem is embossed into the seat backs, on the gearstick and on the flat-bottomed three-spoke sports steering wheel and there are metal pedals to help enrich that sporty character.

It's impossible to start up the car without the engine roaring like a lion at feeding time, but the volume and driving dynamics can be altered to suit your particular mood with four settings to choose from - comfort, auto, dynamic and individual.

There are techno treats galore to be explored in the uncluttered but sophisticated cabin, including an efficient and easy-to-use sat nav system, a Bang & Olufsen sound system that is compatible with all modern media devices, parking aids, Bluetooth and much, much more.

But bells and whistles apart, the RS 5 is a car that loves to be driven and it doesn't disappoint in the slightest.

With a 0-62mph sprint time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed limited to 155mph, it's easy to see why this car screams excitement and driving dynamics at you.

The acceleration through the seven-speed S tronic automatic transmission is blisteringly fast and beautifully smooth with a constant supply of power on tap thanks to the mighty 4.2-litre V8 petrol driven engine.

The road-holding is outstanding and the tightest bends can be attacked at pace with confidence as the car seems to stick to the road like glue and if you fancy taking a little more control, there are steering wheel-mounted paddles to change gears manually.

Comfort levels are good within this two-door model although back seat passengers may find it a little claustrophobic. The boot is fairly generous in size with a load capacity of 455 litres which can be increased to 829 litres with the rear seats folded flat.

Audi has also crammed a whole host of top notch safety features into the car to protect occupants and pedestrians, including the quattro all-wheel-drive system.

All in all, the RS 5 puts the fun back into driving and no journey will be too long behind the wheel of this car.

Admittedly, it will make its mark on the environment with carbon emissions of 246g/km but we can't be clean-living all of the time can we?
