Tepee ideal for

families

Peugeot Partner Tepee, 60 plate

THE Peugeot Partner Tepee might be based on a van and have a silly name but it drives just like a car and makes excellent family transport.

It has plenty of space for five, plus a vast boot which should take all their stuff for a two week holiday.

It's reasonably refined and very economical in turbo diesel form, all of which use the tested 1.6 HDi engine with power ranging from 90 to 115bhp.

There is also a 1.6 petrol, but it's no quicker and a lot less economical, so if you can, go for the diesel.

The two rear doors slide very easily open or closed, without the huge efforts needed with some sliding doors, and latterly, top models had the option of seven seats.

The turbo diesel is reasonably quiet at speed and economy is excellent, with most capable of an average 45 miles per gallon.

The Tepee shares its underpinnings with the 308 so it has a very comfortable ride, and even copes well with rough surfaces at slow town speeds.

The clutch is light, the gearchange easy and all come with very well weighted power steering.

Kit is very good, all having aircon as well as an electric pack and central locking.

Although there is a fair amount of lean in the corners, road holding is safe and sure.
