Citroen lines up a
DS light show
CITROEN aims to light up sales of its sporty DS 3 range with a string of new features.
Leading the way for both the hatchback and Cabrio versions of a model line that has already topped the 300,000 sales mark globally, are headlights inspired by the Numéro 9 and Wild Rubis concept cars.
Combining LED and xenon lamps with new sequential indicators, the new headlights represent a world first for the French brand.
Lighting efficiency is also improved as energy consumption is 35 per cent lower in dipped mode and 75 per cent lower in high-beam mode, while the LEDs last up to 20 times longer than halogen lights - with a standard lifetime of 20,000 hours.
Both the DS 3 and Cabrio retain their 3D-effect LED rear lights, with a chrome finished DS logo embossed in black.
To further enhance the cars' appeal, and to ensure that they remain unique and desirable, the brand is also introducing a new range of personalisation options.
Also from July, selected versions of DS 3 will be available with the choice of a laser-etched dashboard strip and a screen-printed rear window.
Colour options have also been enhanced, with the addition of Pearl White as a body colour on DS 3 and DS 3 Cabrio and Belle-Ile Blue is also introduced on the Cabrio. There are also now 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on selected models.
Citroen says that two new diesel engines will become available in the shape of the BlueHDi 120 and BlueHDi 100, both offering more power and lower emissions
The BlueHDi 100 will produce just 79g/km of CO2 with the BlueHDi 120 emitting 94g/km while fuel consumption figures see the 100 capable of 94mpg and the 120 version having the potential for 78mpg.
A new petrol engine may also be heading for the UK - a PureTech e-VTi 82 ETG delivering a Combined 69mpg and producing 95g/km of emissions.
And features like Active City Brake plus an optional reversing camera will also be made available.
DS 3 prices are from £12,495 with Cabrio versions starting at £15,205.
