A SUBSTANTIALLY upgraded version of Infiniti's Q70 premium saloon will make its European debut at next month's Paris Motor Show.

The changes take the car's looks closer to those of the new Q50 mid-size model, the car's bumpers becoming more chiselled while its headlights maintain the ‘Infiniti eye' using LEDs now as standard equipment.

LEDs are also used in the tail lights while the luxury division of Nissan has improved cabin comfort and noise isolation too.

Infiniti has also modified the saloon's suspension for ironing out road imperfections and there are now 18-inch wheels as standard.

Specifically for the UK and Europe, the Q70 will feature a 2.2-litre four cylinder turbodiesel engine boasting 167bhp and improved fuel consumption.

The Q70 Hybrid, featuring the Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid system, has also been improved - from the reduced mechanical friction of the 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine to the new software programming managing the whole powertrain. Upshot is a slightly better EV range.

Safety measures see the arrival of an Around View Monitor with its arrangement of cameras, sensors, and lasers.

The front perspective in particular can switch on the on-board screen between a 150-degree wide view and a complete 180-degree view to see pedestrians, children, animals and other cars.

The Q70 now also comes with an enhanced connectivity interface for smartphones, as well as additional 12V outlets around the cabin and cargo area, plus added small stowage spots for the devices.

And the car's climate control syncs up with the Start/Stop function on the 2.2 turbodiesel Q70.

Prices have yet to be announced but deliveries start in December.
