Streetwise models
up! the ante
WORD on the street has it that two new special editions of Volkswagen city car the up! will prove a huge hit.
The German brand has just started taking orders for the Street up! and Club up! ahead of first deliveries in March and prices starting from £11,995.
Both models are based on the flagship High up! trim which includes front fog lights, heated front seats and a Maps & More portable info device.
But the extra £610 purchase price also includes a raft of styling features too.
So the Street up! adds stuff like 16-inch alloy wheels, standard Pure White, Black Pearl or Reflex Silver paint and 65 per cent tinted glass.
Buyers also get Street badging decals, body coloured bumpers with chrome moulding on the front fog lights, leather steering wheel with up! logo, and scuff plates with yellow stripe, black roof lining, carpet mats and unique Street cloth upholstery.
The more sophisticated Club up! adds Blueberry metallic or Black Pearl paint, Club badging, decals on side panels in silver, wing mirrors in silver and unique "Club" Tartan Tonic cloth upholstery.
Both new cars are powered by the up!'s most powerful 1.0-litre petrol engine, a three-cylinder 75bhp unit mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
It returns a potental 60.1 mpg on the combined cycle and emits 108g/km of CO2.
Three and five-door body styles are up for grabs and prices are £11,995 for three-door versions of both Street up! and Club up! rising to £12,370 for five-door variants.
