Peugeot 208 in Orange Power

CHOICE will be the watchword from Peugeot when its revamped 208 supermini goes on sale this summer.

Exactly three years after it was launched in Geneva, the new 208 comes with an updated exterior and interior styling plus a full line-up of engines.

Design touches see the 208 receive a larger grille and chrome trim built in to the bumper, new black and chrome two-tone lights, LED 'claw effect' rear lights and painted, diamond-effect or laser-engraved wheels.

Inside is the French brand's i-Cockpit combining a compact steering wheel, heads-up positioned instrument panel and updates seven-inch touchscreen.

That's in addition to a soft-touch dashboard insert, white backlighting for the instrument panel and controls plus blue LED light guides for versions equipped with a panoramic roof.

Featuring as the launch colour will be a new shade called Orange Power while customisation packs from the grille to the door mirror covers will be available from level two models.

Peugeot is also introducing its new GT Line - already available on the 308 and 508 - to the new 208. On three or five-door models, with PureTech petrol or BlueHDi diesel engines, the GTLine is influenced by the GTi's sporty styling.

So the exterior gets larger 17-inch wheels and black door mirror covers while the cabin has sport seats and steering wheel and aluminium pedals.

Safety measures see the 208 receive the company's Active City Brake which can be triggered below 20mph. Another new feature is a rear view camera.

And four new engines join the range along with a new quick-changing automatic gearbox.

BlueHDi diesels include the appearance of three new power outputs - 1.6L BlueHDi 75bhp, 100bhp and 120bhp, all with CO2 emissions below 95g/km.

PureTech petrol units comprise includes three engine power outputs in the shape of two previously existing engines in the 1.0L PureTech 68 and 1.2L PureTech 82 plus one new engine, the 1.2L PureTech 110 S&S with emissions of 103g/km.
