RENAULT'S first crossover was the Captur but then the company gave the Scenic MPV the crossover look and called it the XMOD.
And it's not a bad effort either. Despite the fact that there is no four wheel drive available, it does have Grip Xtend traction control to help in more slippery conditions.
That said, when I put it on a very wet, slight grass slope, it quickly lost traction.
Most people are not going to give it such tests, but will find the system a great help when trying to keep going in snow and ice.
It comes with raised ride height, different front and rear bumpers to the standard MPV, sill guards and chrome roof bars across the range.
I drove the 1.5 110bhp turbo diesel, which is the best seller in the range, and found it smooth and quiet with minimal vibration.
It has fair performance, but that's not its forte. When an MPV this size can do 68 miles per gallon, lookout the rest.
It has a comfortable ride, plenty of interior space for five, three individually adjustable rear seats and a very good boot.
