PORSCHE purists are in for a treat this summer with the arrival of a new Boxster Spyder which made its debut at the New York Auto Show.
And in a flashback to the legendary 718 Spyder from the 1960s, the newcomer features two prominent aero-bulges which flow back from the cockpit over the rear.
Priced from £61,459 the latest Spyder will be available from June - but for that there's no radio nor air conditioning as standard, deleted to save weight and improve performance.
The result is a 0 to 60 time of 4.5 seconds and a maximum of 180mph which is significantly quicker than the previous generation. Fuel consumption is rated at 28.5mpg with its 3.8-litre flat six engine developing 375bhp. Emissions are 234g/km.
Ride height is lowered by 20mm and the Spyder is fitted with a lightweight fabric hood. Front end design is shared with Porsche's potent Cayman GT4 which was one of the stars of this year's Geneva Motor Show.
