BEING all about Mii has paid dividends for SEAT with its latest city car.

The Mii plugged a vital gap in the range caused by the discontinuation of the Arosa some years ago.

Part of the family which includes the VW up! And Skoda Citigo the Mii is the sunny view of city car driving, SEAT being the Spanish arm of the massive Volkswagen Group.

And maintaining the progress of the demanding city sector the Mii now features a version which combines SEAT's hallmarks of hallmarks of design and technology with enjoyable and low cost motoring.

The special edition, I-TECH, which offers attractive customer savingds replaces the former Toca version and nestles between SE and Sport, costing £9,995 in three-door guise, and £10,345 in five-door.

And its low price does not mean that it is boringly slow or poorly equipped.

For instance, the car I drove was capable of 99mph with it willing little 1.0-litre, 60ps, three-cylinder petrol engine only happy to oblige in a 0-62mph sprint of 14.4 seconds.

On the economy front 62mpg is on the cards and CO2 emissions are a respectable 105g/km.

Well specified, the I-TECH touches come in the form of 14-inch ‘Spirited' alloy wheels with titanium finish, a smart I-TECH key cover and black upholstery with gloss grey dashboard panel. SEAT's Portable System Live is also part of the package, offering sat nav, Bluetooth phone connection with audio streaming, micro SD card slot and integrated trip computer functions.

The Mii has played its part in SEAT closing the first quarter of 2015 with its best sales results since 2007.

For the first time in eight years, worldwide customer deliveries exceeded 100,000 units between January and March, reaching a total of 102,700 vehicles, which is 10% more than during the same period in 2014 (93,400), or almost 10,000 more cars.

Launched at the beginning of 2012 Mii is packaged perfectly to offer space for four adults and a generous boot, yet sufficiently small on the outside to fully exploit tight parking spaces and gaps in traffic.

The Mii is one of the most complete and best value city car that money can buy.

At 3,557mm in length it is around 50cm shorter than the compact SEAT Ibiza, yet remarkably the Mii's wheelbase is almost as long, 2,420mm in the Mii, compared to the Ibiza's 2,469mm.
