THEmulti-award winning Citroen Picasso might not be very good looking from some angles, but it's probably the best practical and comfortable family transport on the market.
The model built until 2013 has huge interior space, five or seven seats, a wide range of engines and plenty of style.
The digital instruments work well, and the driver has plenty of seat and column adjustment for a comfortable driving position.
Engines are 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0-litre petrol with power from 120 to 150bhp and the excellent diesels are 1.6 and 2.0-litre with 110, 143 or 150bhp.
As well as a six-speed manual there's a four-speed automatic and a clutchless six-speed manual that takes a lot of getting used to.
The Picasso, in manual or automatic forms, is easy to drive and my pick of the bunch would be the 1.6 diesel manual which is reasonably quick, responsive and frugal.
There is storage all round the cabin and a huge boot with the rear two seats folded and equipment is excellent across the range.
