The facelifted Kia cee'd line-up will cost from £14,905 when it arrives in October.

That tab is for the cee'd hatchback, while the three-door pro_cee'd model is priced from £15,250 and the Sportswagon estate from £16,750.

Changes to the popular line-up include upgraded cabin quality, greater refinement and efficient new engines.

But it's the latter, and a new 1.0-litre ecoTurbo petrol engine, that's likely to have the biggest impact.

Revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and destined to be used in a number of the Korean brand's models, the three cylinder ecoTurbo engines feature deliver 98 or 118bhp, for the cee'd and pro_cee'd, while the Sportswagon is available with the higher powered unit.

Both are 998cc units engineered to require 10 to 15 per cent less fuel than the 1.4-litre multi-point injection or 1.6-litre GDi units in other versions of the cee'd family, with similar reductions in emissions.

Depending on model, fuel economy is claimed to be up to 57.6mpg, with CO emissions as low as 113g/km.

All three cee'd body styles are also available with a new 1.6-litre CRDi turbodiesel with power up from 126 to 134bhp.

Emissions are down by 10g/km in manual versions and now start at 94g/km, though the greatest gains come when the CRDi engine is paired with the company's new 7-speed DCT gearbox. Compared with the previous model with a conventional six-speed automatic transmission, emissions drop by almost 25 per cent, from 145g/km to 109.

All three members of the cee'd family continue to offer a 1.4-litre petrol engine reserved exclusively for the special-edition SR7 variants, while the five-door and Sportswagon also offer a 1.4-litre turbodiesel.

The petrol 1.6-litre GDi remains available in the cee'd and pro_cee'd, while the two GT models are again powered by a 201bhp 1.6-litre T-GDi engine.

Upgrades also see a new GT Line specification across the range too, offering buyers the sporty looks and dynamics of the GT models.

While visual changes are on the subtle side, they are nonetheless effective.

For instance the revamped cee'd gets a more angular and wider bumper with chrome trim around the fog lamps plus and an oval-shaped grille mesh.

A similar change has been made to the rear, with reshaped bumpers and sporty-looking reflectors while LED rear lamps complete the upgrade along with the option of 16 and 17-inch alloy wheel designs.

New safety and convenience features include Kia Connected Services, provided by TomTom, and including live traffic updates, speed camera locations and alerts, local search and weather forecasts.
