THE 50th anniversary of one of Italian racing marque Abarth's greatest moments is being marked with a limited run of special edition 695 biposto models.
Finished in an exclusive ‘Modena Yellow' paint job, only 133 examples will be made - one for every motoring record held by the famous Scorpion-badged cars.
Based on the two-seat Abarth 695 biposto, the Record version is powered by the a 190hp 1.4-litre Turbo T-Jet 16-valve engine giving it a 0 to 60 acceleration time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 143mph.
The Abarth 695 biposto Record will cost £36,610 and each comes wearing special enamelled badges.
Other features include 18-inch OZ alloy wheels, Brembo brakes and an Akrapovic exhaust which produces a sporty growl under acceleration.
Inside, the car has special instrument panel animation, Sabelt carbon shell seats, four point seatbelts, a cargo net and a plate numbered to reflect its limited status.
The Abarth 695 biposto Record celebrates the 50th anniversary of the day in October 1965 when, Carlo Abarth, then aged 57, broke a new acceleration record in a Class G car over a quarter of a mile and 500 metre distances at the Monza race track in Italy.
Weighing in at 997 kilograms the Abarth 695 has the best power-to-weight ratio (5.2 kg/hp) and the best acceleration in its class while its 139hp/litre specific power also sets a new record in cars of this size.
