THE SEAT Exeo saloon and estate are stylish and good looking, well built and very well equipped even in the cheapest models.
They're based on the Audi A4 and are pretty much as good to drive but with a different latin feel.
They are also very comfortable to ride in except at slow speeds and have the same slightly unsettled feel as some A4's.
Insulation is very comprehensive so that there's little wind or road noise, and the cabin is a relaxing place to be when cruising.
Engines are a turbo diesel 2.0-litre with 120, 140 or 167bhp, and a 2.0-litre petrol turbo with 143 or 211bhp.
My best buy would be the 140bhp 2.0-litre diesel. Performance is excellent, with plenty of punch in the mid-range and good acceleration even at motorway speeds in sixth gear.
The top notch VW group power steering helps towards excellent handling, where the car is really excellent.
Its nimble through every corner and beautifully balanced, clinging to the road surface - however bad - with consummate ease even when pressed beyond normal limits.
Seat and column adjustment is excellent and the seats are very comfortable, but a large transmission tunnel means they will only really seat four in comfort.
