THE Volkswagen Amarok pick-up is getting a major makeover with a bold new face and a more car-like interior.

It's due on sale before the year is out and VW has just released the first sketches of the new design.

The nose gets Volkswagen's new ‘corporate' look with a sweeping grille and plenty of brightwork while the rear has also been smartened.

Side lines are now much more pronounced with some bold body cuts running tip to toe.

Inside, it appears that the cabin has been heavily reworked and now resembles the interior of the new Tiguan SUV which was launched only a few weeks ago.

There's a large central touchscreen and the instrument panel has been cleaned up to make it more user-friendly.

The overall size of the Amarok remains at 5.25 metres in length with a width of 2.23 metres mirror to mirror. The loadbed also stays the same at 2.52 square metres.
